Ram is an Indian film director and actor, who works in thamil cinema. He was born in Ramsubramaniam, 11 October 1974 Thamil Nadu. Ram completed his bachelor of arts in American college in Madurai. And he began writing short stories in Thamil language. He met director Thangar Bachan and worked with him in a few films, who recommended that he meet hindhi film director Rajkumar Santoshi. Ram worked together with Santhoshi in several Hindhi films, including Pukar (2000) and Lajja( 2001) and helped him in shaping the story of Lajja. By mid 2006, Ram began working on his directoral debut, initially later changed to Kattradhu Thamizh. ‘Thanga Meengal’ discusses how a common man’s life is twisted and turned by globalisation and today’s educational system. The film was critical success, winning three National Film Awards including the Best Thamil Feature Film Award and three awards at the Chennai International Film Festival. In 2014 Ram started filming his next project Tharamani that deals with contemporary relationships. In 2016, Ram started shooting for the next film titled Peranbu. The movie had its World premiere at 47th International film Festival Rotteedam. Peranbu has been officially selected for and will have its Asian premiere at the 21st Shanghai International Film Festival 2018. Ram was also part of a panel discussion at International Film Festival Rotterdam on Thamil cinema.All of Ram’s films- Kattradhu Thamizh, Thanga Meengal and Tharamani – focus on the hero’s struggle to adapt to the system. He likes to document the lives of underdogs. His films are a culmination of real life incidents. The characters that come in Ram’s films are violate in nature. Naturally people watch films and try to judge. They think the directors are very serious people, who are always talking about books and world cinema.
